Racism is man's gravest threat to man - the maximum of hatred for a minimum of reason~Abraham J. Heschel

Current State

The “The History of Racism” at the All About Popular Issues website states that the 21st Century has brought about several attempted changes in society. There is legislation and memoranda against discrimination in its many forms. Confirming actions have been used as an attempt to make sure individuals are given equal opportunities for employment, housing, and other types of advancement. Even television shows have changed format and characters to seek political correctness.

Nevertheless, society maintains its different opinions on discrimination. Ancient barriers, though invisible, still exists the unhappy truth that it is still impossible to constitute the hearts of men. There will always be those who will fight for change while others resist, seeking to maintain the status. These are issues of economy, power, and control not easily forgotten. In as much as racism is an institutional idea, there can still be no improvement unless many people work for it.

Today, science tells us that all humans share a common ancestry. Even though there are differences among us, we are all very much alike. According globalsecurity.org changing demographics across the globe are resulting in new patters of marriage, housing, education, employment, and new education about race. Even with these advances race still affects us in a variety of different ways. People are often stereotyped by their race, wealth, education, name, and physical ability instead of who they really are. Race has developed inequality and discrimination for centuries.
